Last but not least We had a very special visitor today. Father Christmas came to see us before our party and there was a present for everyone in his sack!

Magic Charlie came to do some great tricks for our party and Hunnies came along to join in the fun.

We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
See you in January 2016!!

Thank you to Mrs Matthews, Mrs Harrison and Mrs Smith for our yummy Christmas Lunch

Mrs Hampshire helped us to make our own Christmas cakes which gave  us lots of practice weighing and measuring. Then we decorated them which was really fun.

What a busy time we have had in the last few days before the Holidays. These are just some of the things we have been up to!

On 4th December we had our Christmas Fair and raised a fantastic £250 for school funds.
The teachers had worked really hard putting up all our decorations so that the school looked lovely and Christmassy.
We have been rehearsing really hard for our Christmas Production and on Wednesday it all came together at St Marys Church where we performed for our families and friends.

 The whole cast on stage.

3 very wise people

We sang our hearts out

                   Eleanor was a fantastic Narrator

The most important part of the Christmas Story

Thursday 3 December 2015

Today we have been to the Playhouse Theatre in Norwich for our Christmas Treat, to see "What the ladybird Heard."  It was fantastic, with really good songs and dancing. They found  a very clever way of bringing the animals to life. (Ben didn't have to play his part from the Christmas Production early and get on stage to clear up all the mess because they weren't real!!!)
You can't take pictures in the theatre so this is us waiting for the coach to come home.

What a lovely morning on Wednesday . We invited out grandparents to come and see us at work.

They helped us make our calendars for next year and played games with us like snakes and ladders that they remembered from the time they were at school.!

Tuesday 1 December 2015

This week saw us start running 'The Golden Mile'. Our Year 3's, Ben, Eleanor and Evie are our Golden Mile monitors.

We have to run around a course for 10mins three times a week and at the end of each week one of the monitors plots our progress on the Golden Mile website.

Friday 27 November 2015

On Thursday we had our Links Afternoon and invited all our parents and friends to come and help make Christmas decorations.
Paint and glue and lots of glitter was all we needed to make fantastic baubles, bunting, robins and tree decorations to help make the school look festive.
Thank you to everyone who came along to support us.
Look out next week for our lovely tree in the hall and if you can, pop along to the chapel to see Hickling Infant School tree. Thanks to Mrs Mayhew and Amber for doing the decorating.

It was Children in Need Day on Friday an we did our bit by having a non uniform day and a bumper cake raffle thanks to Olivers mum and Berties mum. There were 7 prizes and if your ticket wasn't one of the lucky ones there was a delicious chocolate bear to munch on!
Look out in the newsletter for the total that we raised.

Well done everyone and thank you.
Our latest Federation Day was at Catfield on Thursday. The theme was Diwali and we all enjoyed trying some fantastic traditional Indian dancing with Lorraine .We  learnt some steps and hand movements and the "Big Namaste"

We also tried some great craft activities and met up with some old friends and made new ones.

Cookery Club started with the children using the sausages they had bought from the food fayre to make 'Toad in the Hole'.

The children learnt how to use a sharp knife safely and about food safety.

We cooked the 'Toad in the Hole', carrots and broccoli and finished the session by eating them.

We had to mix the ingredients for the batter to put around the sausages.

Grating the carrots before we chopped them up to cook.

Learning how to use a sharp knife safely.

Delicious home cooked 'Toad in the Hole', carrots and broccoli.

Monday 9 November 2015

Mr Hartley from St Johns Ambulance came to school today to talk to us about being First Aiders.
He told us what to do if we ever found someone lying very still in the street or at home.

The number we must ring is 999 and ask for an ambulance.

We learnt about DRABC which stands for Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation and the instructions we need to give an adult if they need to administer CPR

Check to see if the casualty responds to you, if there is no response check their breathing by looking at their tummy.

Give 30 compressions.

Give the casualty 2 rescue breaths

Mr Hartley told us to look on the St Johns Ambulance website,

sja.org.uk

He said there was lots of information and some games we could play.

He also told us to tell our Mums and Dads to download the free App onto their phones which gives lots of information about what to do in an emergency.

On Thursday we walked to the Food Fair at the Chapel. We had lots of shopping to do for the Cookery Club There were so many  interesting things to see It was very different from Tesco.  We bought vegetables, fish, meat and jam. We even got to taste some delicious scones. Everyone was really helpful answering our questions. When we got back to school we added up all the money that we had spent . It was a really tricky job!
